iPod Tip #7
Usually there is one computer that you use to connect and sync your iPod. But what if you want to add songs to your iPod from a second or third computer? Actually it is easy. You can manage your iPod manually on the other computers.
Here’s how:
Connect your iPod to the second computer.
An alert message will appear saying, “The iPod is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library?”
Click No!
In iTunes, click on the iPod icon on the left list to highlight it.
![]()
Double click iPod button on bottom left.

Click Manually manage songs and playlists. Click OK

You are now able to copy songs and playlists from the second computer’s iTunes library to your iPod by just dragging them to whatever playlist you like. You can create a playlist just for the second or third computer if you like.
Be aware that when automatically syncing to your computer that is “linked” to your iPod it will remove the songs you added manually from the second or third computer.
A work around to avoid this is here:
You can create a playlist on your iPod that you add all your music from the second and third computers to. Then select, Automatically Update Selected Playlists Only, excluding the playlists you created.
