You can read email on your iPod by syncing with your Mac or PC and use the iPod Notes feature with these free Mac and Windows applications.

OS X users
PodMail
PodMail allows you to synchronize your IMAP mailboxes with your iPod for portable offline viewing. Simply attach your iPod and insert your IMAP information into the fields on the front page. Click the Sync Now button to create a PodMail folder in the Notes folder on your iPod. This folder includes an index page listing all emails transferred to your iPod. PodMail requires Mac OS X 10.3. Designed specifically for members of .Mac, it’s the fast way to transfer mail to your iPod.

Windows users
K-Pod
This Windows application directly syncs your Inbox with your iPod – no need for an e-mail client such as Outlook.

Just sync your mail and check the Notes folder on your iPod for reading your email.

Note: iPod Notes displays only the first 4KB of each message (approximately 600 words), so you may be unable to view on you iPod the entire text of long messages.
