FCP Tip #6
Thinking of upgrading your Mac to the new PowerMac G5 or the new iMac G5 with the built-in iSight camera? These new Macs use PCI Express video cards. This tip is to make you aware that Final Cut Pro 4 through Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 require a computer with an AGP video card for installation.

If you buy a new Mac that now sports a PCI Express video card and used Migration Assistant to move your applications, Final Cut Pro will not launch and give you a error message telling you that Final Cut Pro needs a AGP video card to operate.

Final Cut Pro 3.x and earlier will not run on Tiger 10.4 and can not be installed on the newer Mac as they come with Tiger preinstalled.

Compressor 1.x also requires a computer with an AGP video card.

Solution:
The only solution is to upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5 (also comes as part of Final Cut Studio).

See Apple site for more info.
