iPod Collection

I thought it might be fun to show my iPod collection. I think you can see I know a bit about iPods.

From left to right: the “original 1st generation 5GB iPod with the mechanical scroll wheel. I bought this on the very day that iPods when on sale. I chucked my Palm right after buying this unit. Worked well for years, I replaced battery and then the hard drive to 10GB when it was needed. Unit works intermittently now and have no reason to repair it. I only keep for historical value now.

Next from left, is a 2nd generation 20GB unit that has the first touch wheel. Still works great and gets used regularly.

Next, the 3rd generation 40GB iPod with touch “buttons”. This unit is my alarm clock and wakes us every morning with the help of Altec In-Motion speakers.

Next, is the first color iPod (iPod photo) 60GB. It was the first iPod (4th generation) that could display photos in color and on TVs. This was purchased the day it was introduced. I use this iPod daily with a Logictech BlueTooth wireless headset.

Next, is the new 60GB iPod video in black. Even though I was unhappy that Apple removed Firewire, it is the best iPod so far. This is considered the 5th generation iPod. I recently brought this on a vacation with me and watched a TV show and a movie on the fight going out. Watched two movies on our hotel TV with it during our stay using Apple AV cable. Then watched two more movies on the flight back!

Now for the smaller iPods. The iPod nano 2GB in white. This one was a gift. The nano is an amazing device for its size.

Last on right, is the iPod Shuffle 1GB model. I bought this because it was a bargain. I needed a small USB flash drive and after pricing a 1GB model and found that for only a small amount more I could get an iPod shuffle and use it when I needed to store data. I bought this the day it was introduced.

The only iPod type I never owned was the iPod mini. I had nothing against the mini. I just prefer the larger models for their larger storage.

What I hope for is that Apple will introduce an iPod with video that has a 250GB hard drive and can store video in HD quality that is the same size as the current one. Or better yet a Stephen Antonucci signature model. Maybe the sixth generation. OK, I can dream can’t I!
