Creating a Playlist From a Selection
Select the songs you want to include in a playlist in the iTunes Library by holding down the Command key (Apple key) and highlighting your choices.

Then in the iTunes File menu, Go to -> choose “New Playlist From Selection”.

iTunes will automatically add the songs you selected to the new playlist.

Now rename the playlist to what you want.

Playlist on Top of iPod Menu
Want your playlist to appear at the top of your iPod’s menu? Just start the playlist’s name with a hyphen (-) character.

Opening a Playlist in a Separate Window
Open a playlist in its own window by double clicking on the playlist’s name. This is a nice way to see the contents of your Library and your playlists at the same time.
