Resetting preference files for FCP can be a pain. But, trashing preferences fixes many bizarre and baffling problems you may have.

FCP Rescue is a FREE OS X helper application to assist you if Apple Final Cut Pro crashes and corrupts it’s preference files by doing easy back up, trashes and restores of your FCP settings & preferences in a mouse click. It can not determine if your preferences are bad or good. So, if after running this utility you are having problems, simply use FCP Rescue to trash your preferences, rebuild them from scratch, then run FCP Rescue to make another new backup.

Instant backup, restore and removal of Apple Final Cut Pro 5’s preference files. Helps you if Final Cut Pro crashes and corrupts its preference files. Very useful if other editors use your log-in, and you want to be able to quickly restore your settings. Very simple interface. Only affects the current logged in user.
