iPod Tip #22
You can determine which version of software is installed on your iPod by selecting the About or Info screen.
Here’s how:
Press the Menu button until you see the main menu.
Scroll to select Settings.
Press the Select button.
Select About (called Info on some iPods).
Press the Select button.
Information about iPod appears. You should see a heading called Version. Next to this heading is the software version installed on iPod.
Note: This method will work on all the iPods except the iPod shuffle as it has no display. You need to use the Software Updater Application and your computer for the shuffle. The Software Updater application can also be used on all the iPods as an alternate way to determine the software version.
It is a good idea to keep your iPod software up to date as Apple sometimes adds new functions to the iPod through this software.
For instructions on how to update iPod, see “Updating iPod’s software” on the Apple website.
