What, your iPod as a GPS? Well almost.

Putting driving directions on your iPod can be pretty handy. I have been using a shareware application called PodQuest $9.95 OS X only, for years to put text directions in the notes section of my iPod.

The current version of PodQuest supports the following map sites:

MapQuest (North America/Europe)
MapBlast (North America)
Mappy (Europe)
RandMcNally (USA)

Multimap (Worldwide)

For Windows users: iDirectionz, freeware is a simple application that allows you to store simple driving directions directly on your iPod.

Get Turn-By-Turn Instructions
If you want to take your iPod directions to the next level try iSpeak It $14.95, OS X only.

iSpeak It allows you to “listen” to your directions on your iPod by taking any text document or web feed and converting it into an MP3/AAC track in iTunes using your Mac’s built-in text-to-speech capabilities. When you sync your iPod you can then have the driving directions read to you by your iPod

There is a new service is being called iPodiWay that makes it easy to put Yahoo! maps on your iPod.

Subway Maps on Your iPod
Putting subway maps on you iPods can be real helpful getting around a strange city.

iSubwayMaps has free subway maps available for many major cities.
