One of the things I continually point out to those that claim "Macs cost too much" is that generally, the software is cheaper, often free, and works better.

When you consider that the better quality of the hardware means fewer repairs, less frustration to use, and none of it raises your blood pressure, Macs are actually cheaper.

Hi Stephen,
I see you're a man after my own heart! Definitely, software is one of the best things about Mac OS X. In fact, it's so good I've become something of a software junkie... the time each day I allot myself to checking out new software for the Mac is one of my favorites, and I really can't live without it for more than a few days. :-)

I've been doing a software inventory of my own, and plan to write it up one of these days. I've also started doing mini-reviews, but they're not very easy to find on the site. Perhaps one day I'll get around to doing up a page that highlights all of my software reviews.

If you're interested in making the effort, you can find them by clicking on the Software tab in the right-hand pane labeled "News & More". If you click on a title, a little floating window shows up with a brief word or three. These aren't the reviews, though... these are the packages I'm planning to review. The reviewed software is in the right-hand section labeled "Yes". (I told you it was hard!) The items that show up here are the actual reviews of software I'm recommending. Once you get the floating window open, you can navigate back or forward through the review list with the little forward/back arrows at the top of the window.

Anyway, thanks for the list... I'm sure there are a bunch here that will be new on me, despite my ravenous appetite. :-)

Cheers,
Leland
