iPod Tip #32
Many people have their iPod named with the default name during the iPod Setup Assistant first run. Never really ging any thought to their iPod’s name., If you want to rename your iPod it is actually pretty simple even though it may not appear in the documentation.
Here’s how:
Attach your iPod to your computer via USB or Firewire.
Launch iTunes if it does not start automatically.
Wait until your iPod’s icon appears in iTunes’ sidebar.
Double click on your iPod’s name in iTunes. It should become highlighted allowing you to type in a new name. This is just like you were renaming a file or folder in the Finder.

Type in the new name and hit Enter key (or just click on something else).
iTunes will then run the iPod update routine.
To check the update, select Settings -> About from the iPod’s menu and you should see the new name.
