OS X Tip #101
Need to convert some values? You may not realize that the OS X Calculator application is more than a simple adding machine. The OS X Calculator features several advanced features not so apparent when you first launch it.

Here’s how:
Open the Calculator, located Applications -> Calculator

Enter the numeric value you want to convert.

Click Convert on the Calculator menu bar. Pick from the dropdown menu the type of conversion you want.

The Calculator will give you a menu of options to choose the conversion values, like “from” and “to”.

If you are using the currency conversion option, make sure to go to Convert -> Update Currency Exchange Rates so you’ll have the latest values.

Scientific or Programmer
If you need more than a “basic” calculator, go to the Calculator View Menu and pick either Scientific or Programmer for the different calculators.

Also, there is a “Paper Tape” option available from the View Menu where you can type in equations for the OS X Calculator to solve!
