OS X Tip #96
Both Mac OS X and Windows XP share these Undo/Redo commands. As this tip may seem just too simplistic, for some reason many people miss this feature. As they may be aware of UNDO and REDO commands in their applications, they seem to miss that the Finder also has this feature.
The Finder is capable of undoing the last action performed or redoing the last action you undid! This can be really handy if you accidentally moved a file(s) somewhere, and can not remember where. Using the undo command will put the file(s), back to their original location.
Here’s how:
Keyboard shortcuts
Command (Apple key) + Z = Undo
Command (Apple key) + Y = Redo
Edit Menu in the Finder
Under the Edit -> Undo or if you already undid something and want to redo it, Edit -> Redo
