iTunes Tip #38
iTunes has a built in feature for finding duplicate tracks in your library. But this feature only checks by the name of the track and the artist name.
Here’s how:
To use this just highlight the Library icon on the top right of iTunes and choose “Show Duplicates” under the Edit Menu. Itunes will show all the tracks with the same name and artist. Works but may not be exactly what you want, especially if you have a large library.

Better Method
A better method is to use Corral iTunes Dupes, free Mac only script that lets you define parameters like name, artist, size, kind, and bit rate. It then creates a “Dupe” playlist for you to sort through them and deside what to do with them.
