OS X Tip #116
Want to turn any part of any web page into a Dashboard widget with a couple of clicks? If this sounds familiar it’s because it’s a shameless rip-off of the new Web Clipping tool that’s due in OS X Leopard in 2007. Why wait, you can have this feature now in Tiger.
Here’ how:
Dash Clipping is a new universal widget tool that allows you to do essentially the same thing that was in the Dashboard demo at the WWDC.
Download and install the Dash Clipping widget.
Once installed in Dashboard, the Dash Clipping Widget will ask for the URL of the website you want to make a widget out of.

Put in the full URL. Chosse a refresh time. Click “Next.” The web page will open inside the widget.
Position the web page inside the widget to the part of the web page you want and size the widget frame by using the “handle” on the lower right corner to make a nice layout.
Then just click the “Save Position and Size” button. I made this Recent Post of ReelSmart.com in a matter of seconds. Tomorrow’s OS X feature today!

If you want another one, just open up another instance of the Dash Clipping Widget and set it up for the new one.
