When you connect your 5G iPod to the new iTunes 7 you are prompted to update the iPod’s software to version 1.2. This is basically quick and easy.
Included in this update is Quick Scrolling which is one of the new features included with the latest iPod nanos and 5G iPods. The feature displays the letter or number on the iPod screen that corresponds to the first letter or number of the group of songs while scrolling through a list. This kind of reminds me of the way the new iPhoto displays the date as you scroll through your iPhoto library.

While it is always nice to get a new feature from Apple, I was am a little disappointed that they did not or could not add the new “search” feature (reminds me of Spotlight) that the latest iPods now have. But this will not be the first time Apple has not rolled out all the new features to the older iPods. So buying a new unit may be the only way to get the search function.
