OS X Tip #130
Usually ejecting a CD or DVD on a Mac is easy. Just press the “eject” button on your Macs keyboard (Apple branded keyboard) or drag the disk’s icon to the trash and out it comes. But what if this doesn’t work?
Here’s how:
First check to make sure that you do not have anything open that is located on that disk, like a movie, an application, etc. When trying to eject a disk that has something open you usually get a message telling you the disk could not be ejected. So make sure nothing is open, and try to eject it again by using the “eject” key

Try selecting the disc by clicking once on the CD or DVD’s icon and press Command (Apple key) + E

or dragging the disk to the trash.

If this does not work ejecting the disk try this. Restart your Mac and hold down the mouse button (the left mouse button for Mighty Mouse users) as your Mac starts up. This usually will work and eject the disk.
If this method still does not eject the disk then try this. Restart your Mac again and immediately press this key combination:
Command (Apple key) + Option + O + F.
This will take you into Open Firmware. You should see a text only type screen.
Now, type eject cd (even if it is a DVD) and press Return. The disk should then eject
Then type mac-boot and press Return. This will boot into OS X.
If this still does not work your hardware maybe the problem and contacting Apple Support should be your next step.
