OWC who are well known to the Mac community for Macintosh CPU upgrades, RAM, iPod solutions and Firewire hard drives have partnered with Axiotron to bring us a Mac tablet computer. The ModBook, as they are calling it will be unveiled with hands-on demos in their booth (S2218) on January 9 at the MacWorld Expo.

The ModBook is said to be a “high-end slate-style notebook computer solution” featuring WACOM pen-enabled hardware that is fully compatible with Apple’s Inkwell handwriting and gesture recognition technology, allowing you to write and draw directly on the screen. They will be offering an optional built-in GPS!

The official release claims: “Engineered in the U.S. by a renowned team of German and American designers, the ModBook’s condensed form factor and integrated pen-based user experience makes it the ultimate solution for applications and situations where a keyboard only gets in the way. Ideal for: Mobile Users, Business Professionals, Artists, Students, and Technology Leaders!” No idea of the details or pricing as of yet.
