The Apple TV does not seem at first glance to have an off switch. In fact it really doesn’t as it is designed to stay on 24/7 waiting for media to sync with and to be ready at a moments notice. But you can turn off the display.

Here’s how:
You can turn off the Apple TV’s display by holding down Play/Pause button on your Apple Remote (included remote) for a few seconds.

This does not really turn the Apple TV’s power down, as it isn’t completely turned off. The Apple TV still wakes up instantly at the press of any button n the Apple Remote.
