Fastmac has announced upgrades for Apple’s PowerBook, iBook, MacBook Pro, iMac & Mac mini, giving the machines the ability to author Blu-ray disks. The $799 upgrade uses a slot-loading drive and maintains backward compatibility with CDs and DVDs bundled with the award-winning Toast 8 Titanium and includes one 25GB Blu-ray rewritable disc so you can get started right away. And with Toast’s new Dynamic Writing feature, you can use Blu-ray like a hard disk drive.. Fastmac said the drive has been tested with Adobe’s Encore CS3, which is capable of authoring Blu-ray disks. Blu-ray gives users up to 50GB of storage on one disk. Of course, with the drive you can also watch Blu-ray movies on your Mac.
