OS X Tip #153
If you ever tried to remote control a Windows PC or server from your Mac it may soon have come apparent that log-in may need you send Control-Alt-Delete to Remote Windows PC.

Any Windows user also knows this is the “three finger salute” in Windows as it also allows you to force quit!

Macs keyboards are mapped differently, but you can send the Control-Alt-Delete by using my tips below.

Here’s how:
Chicken of the VNC a free popular open source VNC client for the Mac offers keyboard shortcuts including Control-Alt-Delete under the Connection -> Special Keys menu. But if you are using Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection, Apple Remote Desktop, or Leopard’s built-in Screen Sharing this will probably work for you.

How to send Ctrl-Alt-Del to a Windows PC
For full-size (desktop) keyboards, use Control + Command (Apple key) + Forward Delete.
Note: The Forward Delete key is located below the Help key on a full-size keyboard. Be sure not to confuse it with the Delete key located above the Return key.

For abbreviated keyboards (on portable computers), use Function + Control + Command (Apple key) + Delete.
