If you have a newer MacBook or MacBook Pro and have an Apple Remote you may want to use it with PowerPoint. The latest Office 2008 for the Mac supports this by default. However older versions like Mac Office 2004 does not.
There is however a method to get this working and also extend the use of your Apple Remote at the same time.
Just get one of these:
