Kindle Tip #4
Want to view PDFs on your Kindle? This is a great way to carry your personal documents for your review.

Note: This will work with unprotected PDF files only. Kindles can read only four file formats: .AZW (Kindle-specific with DRM), .TXT, .MOBI and .PRC.

PDFs need to be converted to read on a Kindle. Download MobiPocket Creator (Publisher Edition as the Home edition does not have the PDF option) a free conversion software that runs on Windows computers.

In addition to converting PDFs you can easily convert Word, HTML, and .txt for the Kindle.

Using MobiPocket Creator is pretty straight forward. After installing it on a Windows computer, you choose the file or files to import.

Then, select Build. That is really it.

Now just look for a file with .prc extension and copy it to your Kindle’s Document folder.

Note: Every Kindle gets its own e-mail address for receiving Amazon-converted Word, HTML, TXT, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP files for 10 cents per document. You send the original to your Kindle’s address and your device receives the converted document (only e-mail addresses you authorize can send to your Kindle). If you have Amazon send converted documents to your regular e-mail account instead of your Kindle account, the conversion is free. You then have to download the attachment and sync via USB.
