iWeb Tip #1
iWeb is a nice easy tool for building good looking websites for non-coders. It is quite different than most website building tools in that it creates the html, css and all the needed code as it uploads your the site you created. iWeb can not read html.
It is very important to backup the “Domain” file that iWeb generates as you can not simply fetch your website from .Mac or any other place you uploaded your creation as it can not read these files. iWeb ONLY reads the “domain” file it creates.
What makes this a bit hard is where iWeb keeps this file. If you reformat your Mac it is quite easy to lose this file and it means re-creating the site from scratch in iWeb. Backing up this file is pretty important.
Here’s how:
Go to the Home -> Library -> Application Support -> iWeb folder and find the “Domain” file.
Copy this file to a save location. You can simply “option + drag” it to an external hard drive, flash drive, iDisk, etc. Anywhere you like to keep a backup.
An alternate method is to download iTweak, a free application (donations accepted). iTweak not only offers an easy way to find and back up your “Domain” file but allows several ofer “tweaks” for iWeb.
