Maybe. It will now be available in BROWN. You do know what else is brown, right? Do not get the wrong idea, I actually own a EeePC, I was talking about the Zune. We all know how well the Zune is doing, especially the brown one! [via Engadget]

Joy of Tech pokes some fun at the iPhone nano rumors.
Tired of getting those idiots calling you during dinner trying to offering you those so-called great deals? This guy turns the table on the tele-marketer. Give a listen.
Installed the latest Apple iPhone update 2.0.1 as soon as it became avialable. After all the pain I have had with my new iPhone 3G, I do not think I ever was more happy to see an Apple update for any product as I was for this one.
Well I almost got through an entire day without a crash, which would have been the first day I ever had where my iPhone worked all day. I guess it was not to be. The 2.0.1 software did not fix my problems with the iPhone. Apps are STILL crashing and killing the iPhone.
I had a third party app quit tonight. After that NO other third party app would launch anymore. This is familiar as it does this all the time without any pattern or matter which app your are using or have installed. All of them quit as soon as you try and launch any of them.
Restarting the iPhone did not help. I tried several times. Even a hard reset does not help. I tried this several times also. So I had to do a restore as I have done just about every day I owned the new iPhone 3G. I just did my 26 TOTAL RESTORE!
Apple is rumored to be scheduled to release iPhone 2.1 software in September. If I have to wait until September for a working phone, I will NOT be happy. The iPhone 3G and the 2.0 software (or the 2.0.1) should have never shipped like this. I am very disappointed in Apple. They should be ashamed of this shoddy release. I could not with good conscious recommend the iPhone to anyone. One crashing third party app should not be allowed to kill all of them or kill the iPhone. Apple now where is 2.0.2?
ArsTechnica has a post that quotes Apple CEO Steve Jobs in an internal email to Apple employees. Steve Jobs admits that MobileMe was launched too early and “not up to Apple’s standards.”
“The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services,” Jobs says. “And learn we will. The vision of MobileMe is both exciting and ambitious, and we will press on to make it a service we are all proud of by the end of this year.”
Worth a read as it is not often that you will see Apple admitting mistakes and being so humble. Clearly Jobs sees that the company has to do better which is a good indication they they acknowledge the problems customers are having.
“It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store,” says Steve Jobs. “We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence.”
Apple has set free iPhone Software 2.0.1, the first highly awaited update for the iPhone and iPod touch. And the crowd cheered!
Apple explains that the update contains “Bug fixes.” Weighing in at 249.2MB in size for the iPhone, or 246.7MB for the iPod touch, let’s hope it contains an entire can of Raid! Connect your iPhone or iPod touch and click to Update. I am updating my iPhone 3G and iPod touch right now.
UPDATE: I finished updating and syncing my iPhone. I put about 55 apps back on my iPhone. Too early to tell anything so far, but it does seem a bit snappier. I sure hope those terrible crashes leaving me with Apple logo flashlight goes away!

I just ordered a new iPod/iPhone interface for my Toyota mini-van. I have had an after market Peripheral device in my van since I bought it in 2005. It has worked fine for me. It allows direct connection to my vehicles sound system and allowed control from my steering wheel controls. Sure beats FM modulators and cassette adapters.
Unfortunately, the cable the connects to the iPod or iPhone (1st generation) broke and I have had some ugly black electrical tape on it for some time. This is given me the excuse to replace the unit instead of just the cable. I actually did buy a cable replacement that ended up being the wrong one.
The device I have installed now only has a dock connector that allows the iPod or 1st generation iPhone charge and play through my van’s stereo system. What I have been longing for was an additional stereo input so I could connect any additional device. These units are pretty easy to install.
Seems NetShare ($9.99) that used networking to share your iPhones cellular broadband connection with your laptop, is not the only app for the iPhone to disappear from the iTunes App Store. I have seen three others disappear. BoxOffice (free) a movie finding app, Light (free) that turned your iPhone or iPod touch into a flashlight and iPint a free entertaining game with the drinking a brew simulator have also disappeared.
No explanation from Apple for any of this. Developers for at least two of these seemed puzzled and were apparently told nothing. If this keeps up expect to see third party app stores and installers on an iPhone near you.
Let us know if you have noticed and other app that has disappeared.
If you have not bought an iPhone and are considering getting one, my advice is WAIT! The iPhone 2.0 software is got to be one of the buggiest releases in years from Apple. As I think the iPhone is a fantastic product being an early adopter may come with shredded patience, lost time, and lost of frustration, not to mention the loss of a phone to use.
I have been wanting to write sooner on the iPhone 3G experience, but have been plagued by so many problems I decided to wait to see if it was a defective unit, if was more widespread or Apple would address the problems in a software update.
My experience has been terrible, although there may be quite a few happy iPhone 3G users, I have to say I am not one of them. Let me explain.

One of the most sought after features for the iPhone is tethering. That is using your iPhone’s 3G (or EDGE) cellular broadband connection to use with your laptop. This feature’s availability would certainly sell more iPhones for Apple and might even make more money for AT&T (in the US).
However no official tethering has been announced by either Apple of AT&T. Jail-broken iPhones with some terminal hacks have accomplished tethering, but it is not supported by Apple or AT&T and is not for everyone.
NetShare [direct iTunes link, at least it was], and iPhone app showed up unannounced in Apple’s iTunes App Store for purchase last night for $9.99 that allowed iPhone users to connect their Macs (or PCs) to the Internet using the cellular network. As you might imagine this caused quite a stir among iPhone users. For the price of two lattes at my favorite coffee chain, road warriors could gain what some Blackberry and Windows Mobile have, a way to connect to the Internet when there is no hotspot in sight.
Here is were the story gets weird. Within 20 minutes of the NetShare app appearing in the US iTunes Store it disappeared without a word from Apple. Only a few lucky iPhone owners were able to snag a copy. This instantly gave the NetShare app a special place in Apple history!

UPDATE 2: Apple has taken it down again, with no explanation yet again. So what gives?
UPDATE: It’s back in the App Store (at least in the US. Get it here [App Store link].
One feature that many iPhone users have clamored for was a way to tether their laptop to the iPhone to use its 3G/EDGE broadband connection. This is doable with some smartphones and up until now doable only on a jailbroken iPhone. Seems AT&T user agreements usually charge extra for such a service.
Last night Nullriver’s NetShare iPhone App, a $9.99 tethering app for the iPhone briefly appeared in the App Store and was quickly unavailable! The few that got to purchase it says it worked well.
