iPhone Tip #20
Using GarageBand 4.1.1 or later you can make ringtones to use on your iPhone, even for DRM protected songs you purchased in iTunes.

Note: This works with iTunes 7.5 or later and iPhone with software version 1.1.2 or later. Also check iPhone Tip #19: Create Ringtones for Free with iTunes if the song in unprotected AAC or MP3.

Here’s how:
1) Open GarageBand, then open iTunes, and drag and drop the song from iTunes to a new track in GarageBand.

2) Click the Cycle button in the Transport controls, which will activate the region loop tool.

5) Adjust the cycle region in the timeline to cover the portion of the song you wish to use as a ringtone. You can adjust the length of the cycle region by grabbing and dragging either end. You can adjust the position of the cycle region by grabbing and dragging it from the middle. Ringtones must be 30 seconds or less.
