Apple is conducting an online Apple TV survey. Here is your chance to be heard. If you own and Apple TV I suggest you let Apple know what you think of their “hobby” device. You can take the online survey here.
UPDATE: Seems the survey link is no longer live. You can still let Apple know your opinions, wants and needs from the Product link below however.
As always users should also make use of the Product feedback form on Apple’s website for all of their products.

Amazon will be shipping Kindle 2 on February 24. Pre-orders start today at $359.
The new Kindle 2 reading device offers revolutionary wireless delivery of content in a new slimmer design weighing just 10.2 ounces with a 25 precent longer battery life, faster page turns, 2GB storage holding over 1,500 book this is over seven times more than the original Kindle.
Kindle 2 has a new 6-inch, 600 x 800 electronic paper display providing 16 shades of gray versus 4 shades available in the original Kindle, resulting in crisp text, and sharper images and photos. Kindle reads like printed words on paper because the screen works using real ink and doesn’t use a backlight, eliminating the eyestrain and glare associated with other electronic displays. With the latest electronic paper display, pages turn an average of 20 percent faster than the original Kindle for an even smoother reading experience.
I recently purchased the BlueAnt V1 Bluetooth headset [$78.24 from Amazon] with voice control to replace a BlueAnt Z9i that I lost. I really liked my BlueAnt Z9i [$52.98 from Amazon] and was upset when I lost it. I think it fell out of my coat pocket. So wanting a replacement I choose the newer BlueAnt V1 that has almost identical size and shape as well as similar dual microphones and voice isolation technology.
BlueAnt has added some new goodness to the V1, by including Sensory’s BlueGenie voice interface, which provides voice recognition for functions such as calling your voice mail, home, office or speed dial with a simple voice command. Paired with an iPhone, this adds some of the voice dialing Apple did not include.

I bought the ASUS Eee PC 4G Ultra Portable Computer last year [see my review] one of the first Asus Netbooks, the company that helped invent the category. Well ASUS is bringing the new ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook with specs to impress.
The new ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook contains Intel’s next generation 1.66GHz N280 Atom processor running a much faster front side bus speed of 667MHz and can run a whopping 9.5 hours (probably closer to 8 hours in real world use). Add wireless N, a 160GB Hard Drive, 1 GB RAM (can be upgraded to 2 GB), 3 USB ports, Bluetooth, MMC/SDHC/Memory Stick/MS-Pro flash card slot, 1.3 megapixels webcam, a 1024 x 600 pixel, 10 inch screen with VGA out for external monitor and 10GB of free online storage still weighing in at about 3 lbs. This little netbook is coming with Windows XP Home (Hackintosh or Linux anyone?) Amazon taking pre-orders with a $25 discount and free shipping making the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook only $374! I am ordering one. Sure wish Apple would enter this category, maybe soon.
According to several sources DataViz will be announcing Documents To Go for the iPhone and Android as well as RoadSync for Android at the Mobile World Congress 2009 running in Barcelona February 16 – 19. DataViz will be exhibiting at the event.
DataViz started talking about Office support for the iPhone last Fall and set up a website to keep users informed when it would be available. Documents To Go allows mobile users to edit Microsoft Office documents on the go. This is the same product used by many RIM Blackberry users and touted as helping Blackberry be a “real” business tool. Soon this should be readily available on the iPhone and Android phones.

Hooked up my iPhone to sync with iTunes and was delivered “Carrier Update” message. Since it was iTunes, I did it. Took only a few seconds. Pretty scant on any details. I did find this on the Apple website: About iPhone carrier settings updates in iTunes.

Amazon is expected to introduce the second-generation Kindle at a scheduled February 9th event at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York City.
Leaked photos confirms that the new model is smoother, rounder and much thinner than the original and has a brushed metal back. The question now is if Amazon will be bring Kindle ebooks to the iPhone and other mobile devices?
“What if you could also access literature’s greatest works, such as Emma and The Jungle Book, right from your phone?” asked Google’s Viresh Ratnakar, Guillaume Poncin, Brandon Badger, and Frances Haugen in a blog post. “Or, some of the more obscure gems such as Mark Twain’s hilarious travelogue, Roughing It? Today we are excited to announce the launch of a mobile version of Google Book Search, opening up over 1.5 million mobile public domain books for you to browse while buying your postage.”
Just point your mobile browser to http://books.google.com/m.

I put out a tweet on this yesterday. Gotta love Joy of Tech from Geek Culture.
In an interview with CNET, Steve Ballmer claimed Google Apps were overpriced and seemed to indicate that consumers that use them are screwballs.
Google has started aggressively hiring salespeople to pitch Apps. Google Apps could pose a competitive threat to the MS Office bundle, but Ballmer calls the $50 per user per year pricetag on Google’s product overpriced.
Ballmer, “Google is neither free nor low cost. That’s not a joke. We’re talking about the enterprise. We’re not talking about some screwball consumer thing now. We’re talking about the enterprise. Google charges a very hefty price, comparable to our prices, when it comes to the enterprise.”
Guess he thinks we all need to continue to pay for all those expensive Office upgrades!
RapidRepair is taking pre-orders for a huge 240GB hard drive upgrade for the fifth-generation iPod. According to the product page for the Toshiba 240GB MK2431GAH 8mm, for 5th generation iPods ONLY (NOT the iPod classic).

Microsoft has made public that there will be SIX editions of Windows 7. Here is the line-up – Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate! Really? Simple? No!
You would think after the fiasco and failures of Vista, Microsoft might have re-thought this strategy, no such luck. At least the early reviews of the beta are more positive.

Well maybe, Apple thinks so. Especially if you are a heavy iLife user. The latest version of iLife ’09 GarageBand offers a nice new feature where you can get instruction from celebrities like Sting and Norah Jones, BUT ONLY if you have an Intel powered Mac.
I guess this is not too surprising as we knew this would happen sooner or later. Seems Apple is telling us users something here. First it was iMovie ’08 and now GarageBand ’09.
David Letterman airs the “lost” Bill Hicks routine he originally banned 15 years after the comedian’s death from pancreatic cancer. This routine was from the early days of the Late Show in 1993, but never aired. Letterman dedicated a portion of his show on Friday night with Bill Hicks’ mom as a guest and finally aired this.
