I reviewed G-Map recently and have it installed on my iPhone. It is an excellent map solution for directions. It offered turn-by-turn navigation without voice. Now it has disappeared from the App Store.
XRoad’s website said G-Map US East and West coast maps were being improved. By improved does this mean it will re-appear as a full turn-by-turn navigation solution as part of the Premium App Store? Apple seemed to indicate at Tuesday’s iPhone 3.0 unveiling that turn-by-turn navigation would be allowed if developers bring their own maps, which XRoad G-Map does. We will have to watch this one.
UPDATE: G-Map U.S. East and West returns at $24.99 with version 1.3.

That’s a little odd. Hopefully they don’t bring back a premium version with a premium attached if you know what I mean. I wonder if they will launch a google latitude type feature pretty soon since that’s all anyone talked about a couple weeks ago.
It’s an useful application. I’ll try it!
I’m also hoping that they don’t bring back a premium version!! Hopefully they can get this problem resolved ASAP!!! I was actually about to buy one of these with my tax return!! I guess I’m just gonna have to wait!!
@ Payday:
Why wait, this app has been updated and is available in the App Store. I guess you really did not read the post, but spamming your ad on my site was really the reason for the comment, so I get it.
Hi Stephen,
Back a few months Jo said on the Microsoft owning Apple share thread;
“There is no evidence that Microsoft ever sold off the common stock shares. The initial investment was for non-voting prefered stock shares which are handled differently than common stock, in 2000 and 2001 they were converted to common stock as Jonathan Lehr pointed out. The total amount of shares is less than 5% of Apple’s common stock, so they would not be listed as a major holder of 5% or more, Microsoft is not a trading institution, so they wouldn’t reported as owners under that heading. Basically, without having direct access to Microsoft’s stock portfolio, there is no way to know whether they sold the stock or not.”
1). What does it he mean Microsoft “is not a trading institution” …surely its VERY traded on NASDAQ and Dow Jones Index?
2). It sounds as if Mircrosoft had 2 tranche of shares, some sold 2000 and 2001 but someone said MS sold some shares officially in 2002 too. Anyone know if MS orginally had 25% and then sold some, keeping just below 5% which remained under the ‘must report a stakeholing’ rules?
Much appreciate your help on the above. Thanks
