When Apple introduced the now standard aluminum ultra-thin keyboards awhile back, I thought it a bit odd that the wired keyboard was a full sized keyboard that offered the usual numeric keys. Also was odd was the lack of an Apple logo on the Command key.

:: Apple Updates Time Capsule with Simultaneous Dual-band

time_capsule2009

Apple has updated the Time Capsule to allow for simultaneous dual-band operation. According to Apple, some Wi-Fi devices use the 2.4GHz wireless band, including iPhone, iPod touch, and devices using 802.11b/g. Others can use either 2.4GHz or the higher-speed 5GHz band, such as the latest 802.11n-based Mac computers and Apple TV. Instead of choosing one of the bands, Time Capsule now operates simultaneously on both bands, and your multiband devices automatically use the best available band. This means all your Wi-Fi devices get the fastest possible wireless performance and the best possible range.

:: Tuesday Brings New Macs from Apple

imacs_20090303

Apple has rolled out new Macs this morning as anticipated including updated Mac mini, 20 and 24-inch iMacs and Mac Pros all sporting updated processors and graphic capabilities.

Apple also updated the 15-inch MacBook Pro, bringing it more in line with its 17-inch MacBook Pro. The top-of-the-line standard configuration of the 15-inch MacBook Pro now features a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with a list price of $2,499. That’s a slight boost from the previous 2.53GHz speed. And for those who crave the most power possible in a 15-inch MacBook, there’s a $300 build-to-order option that will top out the system at 2.93 GHz, up from the previous top speed of 2.8GHz.

NOTE: The new iMacs come with an ultrathin, compact wired Apple Keyboard that lacks the Numeric Keypad. You can upgrade to the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad at no charge or the Apple Wireless Keyboard for $30 extra.
