iPhone Tip #45
iPhone 3.0 firmware now allows you to finally sync your Notes on your iPhone with your computer. This makes the Notes app far more useful. You must enable this in iTunes however. You can set up iTunes to automatically sync your notes with email applications such as Mac OS X Mail and Microsoft Outlook (requires Mac OS X version 10.5.7 on a Mac).
Here’s how:
After connecting your iPhone (or iPod touch) to your computer you will see it in the left side under Devices. Click once on your iPhone icon. Then go to the Info tab and check the Sync Notes box.

Now sync your iPhone. You will find the notes you created in your Mail app on a Mac or Outlook on a Windows PC.

Also syncing works in both directions, so notes you create on your computer will be synced back to your iPhone.
If you are using MobileMe you can even enable your Mac to sync your notes across all your registered computers if you enable Notes Syncing.

Just go to System Preferences -> MobileMe -> Sync and check Notes.
