iPhone Tip #44
Find My iPhone is a new feature available to iPhone and iPod touch users running the iPhone 3.0 firmware that have a MobileMe account.

If you lose your iPhone, MobileMe can help you find it. After you enable Find My iPhone in MobileMe settings on your iPhone (or iPod touch), you can log in to me.com from any computer – access Find My iPhone and display your phone’s approximate location on a map. You can send your iPhone (or iPod touch) a message or play a sound even if your iPhone is set to silent. You can also Remote Wipe your iPhone (or iPod touch) removing addresses, phone numbers, email, photos to protect your privacy.

Here’s how:
To set up Find My iPhone on your iPhone (or iPod touch) just go to your iPhone settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your MobileMe account. Toward the bottom of the Account Info page turn on the switch for Find my iPhone.

Now log onto the MobileMe web page.

Click on the accounts icon at the top (usually the last icon), and you should see a Find My iPhone icon on the bottom left navigation of the account settings.

You can find your iPhone on a map, send it a message, or remote wipe it.

NOTE: This tip requires iPhone 3.0 firmware and a MobileMe account.
